Professor Feng Zhang and his collaborators identified the new sperm deformity pathogenic gene DNAH8
On July 2, 2020, Professor Feng Zhang of Fudan University and Professor Masahito Ikawa of Osaka University published an article entitled Bi-allelic DNA H8 Variations Lead to Multiple Morphological Abnormalities of the Sperm Flagella and Primary Male Infertility in The American Journal of Human Genetics.In this article, a new sperm malformation pathogenic gene, DNAH8, was identified. Intracytoplasmic sperm microinjection (ICSI) techniqueI could serve as a promising treatment for infertile men harboring bi-allelic DNAH8 variants, and result in good pregnancy outcomes.
