Xiaolei Liu graduated from Qingdao University Medical College in 2007 with a PhD in Physiology. During her PhD studies, she conducted research on tumour transgenic therapy at the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. From 2007 to 2010, she pursued postdoctoral research at the Shanghai Institute of Life Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, focusing on the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases. Since 2011, she has served as a scientific editor for Cell Research, and since 2015, she has also served as a scientific editor for Cell Discovery. Since 2022, she has joined Life Metabolism, a high-quality new journal supported by the Chinese Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan, serving as the founding executive deputy editor-in-chief.
