Tiemin Liu’s research group revealed a new mechanism of IRF4 in skeletal muscle regulating exercise capacity through the PTG/glycogen pathway

The research group of Professor Tiemin Liu cooperated with the research group of Professor Xingxing Kong of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the research group of Zhong Li of Nanjing Medical University, and published the title IRF4 in Skeletal Muscle Regulates Exercise Capacity via PTG/Glycogen Pathway in Advanced Science on August 1, 2020. The study found that exercise training will affect the expression level of skeletal muscle IRF4. On the other hand, IRF4 in skeletal muscle regulates muscle glycogen content through glycogen targeting protein (Protein targeting to glycogen, PTG), regulates the adaptive metabolic response of muscle, and then affects exercise capacity.
