Tongjin Zhao's Lab revealed the mechanism of dynamic palmitoylation-regulated endocytosis of CD36 to facilitate fatty acid uptake

On September 21, the research group of Tongjin Zhao, Fudan University, and their cooperators, the research group of Shuai Chen, Nanjing University, published a research paper entitled CD36 facilitates fatty acid uptake by dynamic palmitoylation-regulated endocytosis in Nature Communications. The study proved that CD36 can absorb fatty acids by endocytosis, and it has been found that the dynamic palmitoylation of CD36 plays an indispensable role in this process. The study found that long-chain fatty acids can promote the endocytosis of CD36 from the cell membrane of adipocytes, and CD36 absorbs fatty acids in an endocytosis manner.
